Making Prior Authorization Work for Pediatricians: Resources from the AAP and MTAAP
Prior authorization (PA) continues to place a heavy administrative burden on pediatric practices, often delaying the care that children need. At both the national and state levels, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Montana Chapter (MTAAP) are working to support pediatricians with tools, templates, and advocacy that aim to reduce these barriers and streamline your workflow.
From ADHD medications to mental health services, genetic testing, and specialty referrals, prior authorization affects nearly every corner of pediatric care. These requirements are often inconsistent, time-consuming, and lack transparency—creating frustration for providers, staff, and families.
